Customise your garment with a debossing finish. Debossing is a popular branding technique that adds dimensional depth, detail and value to fabric or garments.
We´ll explain in this blog this custom apparel branding technique.
Debossing enhances any fabric made of synthetic material by using a customized CNC milled metal plate along with heat and pressure to press a design mark into fabric.
This creates a bespoke 3D look on the surface, resulting in a debossed imprint of your logo or inscription. Debossing only heat-presses halfway through the material which means it does not leave an embossed impression on the reverse side of the fabric.
Not all images deboss well and here are some things to consider prior to using the deboss process for your project.
Debossing works best to highlight a specific design element on your textile. It creates a subtle imprint that doesn´t affect the overall look.
In combination with other types of heat transfer techniques, debossing is a fantastic eyecatcher.
You are free to decide if you want to deboss text, a logo or a single image, initials or even a small pattern. Add some really cool and unique visuals to a specific area on your garment.
To achieve a stunning look, the garment debossing technique is at its best when it incorporates a simple design. Artworks with too many shades, fine lines, dimensions, or other filigree design elements, may be lost.
Keep it simple, too much detail will work against the overall effect.
It´s highly recommended to test the debossing technique up-front and possibly adjust the raised and lowered focus areas on the fabric or garment / jersey for a perfect result. Every material reacts differently when exposed to heat and pressure and this affects the final look.
It´s also important to avoid any pressure marks around the surface area of the design by working precise with the adjustment of the machine.
As the debossing process is an in-house finishing technique, this means we are only able to provide debossing as an application service within our facilities. This is due to the CNC metal plate being mounted on a heat transfer machine combined with a laser alignment system that helps to position the design on the garment.
Debossing is perfect for adding that additional quality look and feel to your garment. There are many benefits to choosing this technique for your project.
Debossed designs are permanent, have unlimited washability and the debossing technique works equally well on all colors and black and white. It´s an elegant method for tone-on-tone decorating and a stylish alternative to common heat transfer printing techniques.
