The Caribbean Football Union (CFU) organizes competitions and tournaments for national federations and clubs throughout the Caribbean region.
These competitions bring together teams operating under different sporting, organizational, and economic realities. For many clubs and federations, this means jerseys are often used over extended periods and across multiple tournaments.
That was exactly the challenge.
While official tournaments require sleeve badges and Match Official badges to create a professional and consistent appearance, permanently applying tournament-specific branding is often impractical. Teams need the flexibility to continue using their jerseys long after an event has concluded.
The badges are primarily used during competitions such as the CFU Club Shield and the CFU U14 Challenge Series, where teams from across the Caribbean compete in official tournaments.
The jerseys needed to maintain a professional tournament appearance while remaining reusable after the event—without permanent branding or adhesive residue left behind.
That is why the CFU needed a solution that would deliver professional tournament branding without compromising the long-term use of team jerseys.
This is where our collaboration with the CFU began.
THE CHALLENGE
It quickly became clear that the solution needed to meet several requirements simultaneously.
The tournament badges had to:
- Be high quality
- Deliver a professional appearance
- Be easy to apply
- Remain securely attached during competition
- Be removable after the event
Since the badges needed to be applied directly on-site—without heat presses or additional machinery—simplicity and ease of application were critical to the success of the program.
At the same time, the future use of the uniforms had to be considered. The project was therefore about more than creating visually impactful badges; it required developing a solution that would perform reliably in real tournament conditions while preserving the usability of the jerseys.
THE SOLUTION
Working closely with the CFU, dekoGraphics developed sleeve badges and Match Official badges using our 3D SILICONE X SATIN technology.
The combination of a satin fabric base and a matte silicone surface created a premium look with a structured finish and high-quality feel. The raised silicone layer also adds visible depth, giving the badges a professional appearance on the jerseys.
The key element of the solution, however, was the 3M Self-Adhesive Backing.
This allowed the badges to:
- Be applied directly on-site
- Remain securely attached throughout the tournament
- Be removed after the event
One major advantage is that the self-adhesive badges can be applied without heat presses or specialized equipment. They function much like premium-quality stickers, allowing for fast and easy application whenever required.
This created a practical solution for temporary tournament branding without permanently altering the jerseys.
For federations, clubs, and tournament organizers that need to reuse jerseys or adapt them for different events, the benefits are significant.
The solution is not limited to tournament badges.
Temporary sponsor logos, event branding, and special applications for interviews or media appearances can also be executed using this approach—without permanently decorating existing teamwear. Furthermore, this application method can be used for select non-textile branding opportunities, creating unique possibilities beyond apparel.
THE RESULT
With reusable tournament badges, the CFU was able to create a professional and consistent look across multiple competitions.
During tournaments such as the CFU Club Shield and the CFU U14 Challenge Series, the badges helped establish a unified tournament identity while allowing teams to continue using their jerseys afterward.
Teams retained the flexibility they needed, enabling jerseys to serve both official tournament requirements and ongoing use without permanent event-specific branding.
The solution also simplified logistics. Badges could be applied directly on-site without additional machinery, specialized equipment, or complex processes.
The CFU project demonstrated that not every branding solution needs to be permanent.
Sometimes the most effective solution is the most flexible one.
